Kaibo Yacht Club – A Unique Cayman Islands Wedding Venue

April 12, 2014

A lot of brides and grooms ask me where to get married and one thing about the Cayman Islands is the vast choices of amazing venues. I thought it would be nice to feature some of these venues so it can be easier for our couples to search and see for themselves all the the fabulous choices they have. So I am starting with Kaibo Yacht Club and will introduce you to Daniel who runs the place. Kaibo, located on a palm frond-ed white sand beach is the destination you have to visit to experience the real Cayman. Away from the Seven Mile Beach masses, Kaibo defines barefoot escapism and romantic dining. The quickest way to get there is by boat, although the drive by road is scenic. There are two restaurants, Kaibo Beach Bar and Kaibo Upstairs on the first floor. Kaibo ‘Upstairs’ is a fine restaurant with huge white muslin curtains and comfortable couches arranged around the Rare Rum Bar lounge. Chef Laurence Tham from London fuses Michelin star experience with modern European techniques and adds a Caribbean twist. Locally or Caribbean sourced seafood is a specialty. A water taxi runs from Camana Bay dock on Tuesday and Friday 6pm. The upstairs restaurant is a gorgeous venue for receptions. I said to Daniel “if Ernest Hemingway was still alive this is surely where he would come to lounge and write”. The seating areas around the bar are as unique and Caribbean as the fans on the ceilings and the unique Rum Cupboard with an incredible collection, the most expensive being from Cuba, but you have to ask Daniel about all of that :). Some guests will also take the opportunity to have their cocktail hour on board one of the catamarans during the sunset, which leaves straight from Kaibo dock.

And a unique option for your cocktail hour is to go aboard the Spirit of Poseidon one of the many catamarans from Red sail Sports.
