Suzanne and Simon – Grand Cayman Ritz Carlton and Wharf Ceremony/Reception

April 18, 2014

Simon and Suzanne were married at the Wharf Grand Cayman, their reception was held on the deck over-looking the Caribbean ocean. When I started with Simon and the lads earlier in the day, I showed up at their apartment and took shots of them getting ready. Their cuff links were custom made with a map of Cayman and the other one was a map of where they are from, so cool. I headed over to the Ritz Carlton to a gorgeous pent-house suite for the getting ready shots of Suzanne. Her dress was gorgeous and she had a over-veil which was perfect for the beach. Shandi Smith and Mary Ann Meighan of Celebrations went above and beyond making sure the day flowed and everything was AMAZING! The food at the Wharf was incredible and the day was perfect 🙂

Their story:

Simon and I met at work in October 2004 – he was my boss! He pursued me in the early days but as I was the “new girl” and wanted to make friends, I didn’t want to date the boss. At the Christmas party that year, he danced with me, chatted with me and asked if he could take me out but I kept refusing. The next morning he messaged me without realising I had changed my number. My old number now belonged to my mum who thought she had an admirer!! We had our first date on December 21st and after a rocky start have since shared many experiences together from skydiving to scuba diving, tomato fighting in Valencia to wife-carrying championships in Finland and have travelled the world together. At the end of 2011, Simon went to work in Australia for 2 months and I joined him at the end for a 3 week tour. We ended in Sydney and planned to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge on December 21st, our 7th anniversary, at twilight. At the top of the bridge, he proposed, with a ring, and had been planning this for 3 months!

We had visited Grand Cayman several times as Simon’s brother and his wife lived here and we fell in love with the island from day one. When deciding where we should marry, it seemed perfect. Our friends and family live around the world so nowhere would be super easy and we wanted sunshine and a beach, which meant the UK was out of the question! So two years later, 9 years together, he is still my boss (at work) but I am the real boss now! Celebrating with our closest family and friends for 10 days was the best – from the chartered party boat trip to Stingray City for everyone to meet to the St Patrick’s night stag and hen party. Our wedding was the icing on the cake!
