Tiki Beach Grand Cayman Wedding | Emily + Rick | “I’m so glad you called me back!”

May 25, 2015

When I first met Emily and Rick, I knew their wedding was going to be “epic”, but I still wasn’t prepared for everything that unfolded so beautifully on this special day. Emily’s dress was ‘amazing’ and when it went on… ‘gob-smacking’! – as we say … we then popped over to Rick and were pleasantly surprised to find all the lads in shorts.. how cool. We were ready to head off for the first look and a vintage pink Chevy came to pick up the bride.

The Tiki Beach was an amazing venue for this wedding, everything was so amazing. I could not have photographed this event on my own. A HUGE thank you to my co-worker and AMAZING photographer Daria Keenan, check out the last shot of the rings!!! AMAZING DARIA! Elina, you did an incredible job coordinating this wedding. Thankyou! Emily and Rick…. Thank you for choosing me to tell your story! xxx Rebecca

A dream come true. We love Grand Cayman and have visited every year since we started dating. Rick’s aunt and uncle have a place in the Cayman Islands. It was our dream to bring our friends and family there to experience the beach, crystal clear waters and friendly people.

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?

Efficient, fun, relaxed, sweaty. It was hot (at least for us Canadians)! but Rebecca was amazing. She made sure we were comfortable and was extremely quick when she could be. Her entire team was a dream team. Even my guests commented how professional and friendly they were. I wanted Rebecca to be my new best friend. Unfortunately she lives in the Cayman Islands. And probably has many brides trying to be her best friend.

We met while attending Western University in London, Ontario.

Dancing in the sand with 125 of our closest friends and family, almost all of who flew down to the Cayman Islands to be there with us.

The incredible kindness and accommodation of the Tiki Beach staff.

1. If you are okay with breaking a tradition, do a first look. We decided to because we wanted to make sure we got some photos of the super blue water, but also do what was best for our guests. The first look + bridal party photos before the ceremony meant that there wasn’t a big gap between the ceremony and the reception, and the ceremony could be at 5pm, when it started to cool down (…. at least that was the idea. It was HOT). It also gave us the opportunity to join our guests for part of the cocktail hour. 2. Trust Rebecca – she’s a genius.

I wanted something unique, simple and beachy. I found it in a small boutique in Toronto. I questioned it at first because it was so unlike anything I thought I wanted, but my EIGHT bridesmaids confirmed it was the one! I knew I needed eight.
