Cayman Cookout 2017 | Day 4

January 17, 2017

The final day of Cayman Cookout 2017 was amazing….starting the day with the Bon Vivant Amateur Chef Competition Brunch sponsored by Kirk Market. Endless Moët & Chandon Champagne and extravagant brunch selections enchant as Grand Cayman’s most ambitious amateur Chefs duel in a live cook-off in The Cayman Islands Ballroom. The amateur Chef finalists will face-off during Sunday brunch and the winner was determined by celebrity Chef judges Eric Ripert, Anthony Bourdain, José Andrés and Emeril Lagasse. Savory bites, sweet delights, flowing bubbles, mixing and mingling with the who’s who in food and wine; no better way to spend your Sunday afternoon!!!

We then headed over to the Harbour Pool and Club for Rum and Robusto to discover the spirit of the Caribbean by tasting rum. From locally-produced to world renowned, guests indulged their senses with “la vida Cubano” while enjoying cigars and coffee with live music by Son Cubano at the Harbour Club. Basking in the beautiful Caribbean sun and sipping on cocktails inspired by the islands’ vibrant colors and flavors guests toasted to the good life in Cayman. Featuring some of the best Rum in the world Ron Abuelo, Diplomatico Mantuano and Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, Ron Zacapa and Havana Club.

Then the chefs headed over to join the  Petanque and Pastis sponsored by OBUT. Petanque is similar to Bocce and Pastis is what you sip while you play! To say the competition was heated is the least to be said. As Jose Andres begged for judges to interfere at some ‘cheating’ that was apparently going on until the sun went down. Most of the chefs included their kids which was great to see.

The evening finished with a private dining in Blue Restaurant with the headliner chefs presenting some incredible food.
