cock·tail hour

[kok-teyl][ouuhr, ou-er]

–noun

the interval before the evening meal during which cocktails and other alcoholic beverages are often served.

You know I was just chatting with one of our brides, Lindsay and she is getting married in May. She said to me after talking about her timeline….. “I love the thought of enjoying our cocktail party, something most every other couple doesn’t get to do!  We are all about doing things different from the New Jersey way!” Wow, I was thinking we often take it for granted that our couples almost always get to enjoy their cocktail hour, rather than rushing around taking  many photos and not spending their time with their guests. So when Lindsay emailed this to me tonight I thought…… “I must blog this!” So to the grooms that hate missing out on cocktail hour and brides who stressfully think they have to fit all the shots in this 45 minute window, there is another way!!!!!

Check out the cocktail hour setup below at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. Very Simple but such fun! Stylish lounges with floor cushions and one of my favourite trends, a bonfire for smores. I had no clue what this was all about as this is not something that I grew up with. It is a American and Canadian tradition, so I am told! I would have been happy to have joined in this tradition…… okay listen to this…. you take two Graham crackers and put a slice of chocolate between them, then get a huge marshmallow and stick that in the fire. Once it is hot and melty (not a word apparently?), place it on top of the chocolate and then sandwich it with the other Graham cracker. YEAH this is for real! then you consume it after you wait a minute for it to all melt together…..

So this really is such a great time to really enjoy and not miss out. Cayman has amazing and unique drinks that can be served at your cocktail hour. Bright and Colourful and super tropical, we also have our own beer so sometimes we have seen some couples actually have a keg on the beach!
