It’s the first trip we went on as a couple outside the US. We loved it so much 5 years ago that we’d returned every year. Sheena always wanted to get married on a beach, and Cayman was so integral to our relationship that it made complete sense.

Do what you want to do. There are traditions and obligations that the couple may feel pressure to do or feel the need to do because it’s a wedding, but it’s your wedding. We honored our families, but also stayed very true to what we both wanted and envisioned and I believe that is why we had such a fun and enjoyable day day.

Sheena hated the idea of going to a dress shop and dealing with pushy saleswomen. So she found a dressmaker in DC who she designed her dress with. Such a fun experience to go through and make adjustments to the design to suit my body best. Rodell wore a blue Canali suit with no tie.

Sheena’and Rodell: the moments before the ceremony when we went with rebecca to do some additional photos after the first look. It was so fun, relaxed and a little bit silly. A special moment just for the two of us but also we were both totally ourselves.

Fun! We both really wanted to do a destination wedding so we can have an excuse to go on vacation with our closest family and friends. Over the last 5 years we have gotten to know Cayman well, coming every year so it made sense to us to get married there. It was such a fun weekend from spending time with friends on the beach the day before and day after the wedding to the actual wedding day.

At the brand new dining room table in our apartment. Since we live in a city, neither of us have had enough room to have a full dining room table before, so it was a big deal for us to get one. He proposed after dinner the first night we used the table. It was extra special as we love to entertain and have already shared great memories with friends and family at that table.

6 years ago we worked for different organizations in DC that shared office space. We knew mutual people on the floor so started talking that way.

Listen to Rebecca!

Sheena enjoys planning parties and events so she spent a lot of time on Etsy getting ideas and then designing and doing a lot of them on her own. Frames around the venue, the menu cards, the program fans, etc.

We did. We didn’t want to initially, but we’re convinced into it by Rebecca since it’s so hot in August, this way Rodell could change his shirt if needed and I can do make up touch ups so we both looked fresh for the photos and the ceremony. Doing a first look also ensured that we had enough time to take photos with family after the ceremony as sunset lighting is limited.

Desiree suggested Rebecca. After one phone conversation, I knew it was the perfect match!

SO MUCH FUN! I want to hangout with you every weekend…

Really want to do a shout out to the Wharf when mentioning vendors. They were so fantastic to work with and we really made some friends there throughout the process.

Anxious about the weather!! It was the only thing and we couldn’t control it. We lucked out as the skies opened up around 3pm, and our ceremony was at 5:30pm, but by around 4pm the sun came out and it turned out to be a perfect night.

You’ll forget what you ate, drank and even wore eventually. Think about what memories in your relationship leading up to your wedding are most cherished and use that as a guide in your planning. Those are the moments that are going to be most special day of.

Excited! We both could not stop laughing and joking around that day.
