THE DRESS
I found my dress a year and a half before the wedding, and it was the very first dress I tried on! Mum immediately burst into tears, but I knew I had to explore other options before making such a big decision. No matter what else I tried, I kept being drawn back to it. When I tried it on again, with clips bringing in the waist, Mum cried all over again and I just knew it was the one! 🤍 I also had a feeling it would be a real surprise for Phillip, as it was quite different from what he might have expected — and it definitely was! We even managed to get a few tears out of him in the end!
HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET
We met at secondary school and got together at the start of Year 9, and we’ve been together ever since! ❤️ Phillip came over to my parents’ house for pasta, and the rest is history. 🥹🤍
THE VENUE
The Hacienda is the most perfect, authentic Spanish villa, and we were in awe from the moment we first visited. From the castle turret above the bridal suite to dancing under the stars, every corner of the villa was so beautiful and had something special about it. There were so many lovely little spots where we shared unforgettable moments with our favourite people. It really was the most magical setting for our week
HOW DID PHIL POP THE QUESTION
Spain has always held a special place in our hearts. With both of Phil’s aunties living there and his family having a holiday home, it’s our happy place and somewhere we love to escape and relax. We’ve been coming to Mijas for years, so I had a slight suspicion something was going on when Phil told me to dress nicely, only to pull over at the side of the road and announce we were going for a hike up a hill! It was quite the trek, especially in sandals, but at the top was the most beautiful little white chapel. I turned around to find Phil down on one knee, asking me the big question.
FIRST LOOK
I did a first look with my bridesmaids, although from the get-go, I was being a terrible drunk, asking everyone, “Who wants to see my dress?!” Georgia was adamant she didn’t want to see it beforehand, and I’m so glad she stuck to her guns because it made the moment even more special. Lots of tears and a moment I’ll always treasure.
The first look with Dad was just as special, although, being his usual self, he couldn’t resist a bit of humour, saying, “Who is this beautiful bride? This can’t be my girlie!”
THE AISLE
Honestly, I was SO nervous, especially as my dress was starting to trip me up! Dad made me feel so comfortable, and we even had a giggle as he announced he was tripping over my dress and might have to take centre stage with a tumble! 😂
Then I saw Phil and all the emotion on his face, and I was completely overwhelmed with love. But there was also a little part of me thinking, “Yessss, I finally got this man to cry!” 😂🥹❤️
THE VOWS
We chose traditional vows, led by Simon, with Helen very much in our thoughts throughout. Before the ceremony, I also had a first look with Dad and my bridesmaids, which was such a special moment to share with them before walking down the aisle. 🤍
THE KISS
Our first kiss as husband and wife, and definitely not the last! 💋😂 Phil was clearly making up for lost time because by the end of the day, he’d kissed the makeup clean off my nose! Think we can safely say he was happy with his new wife! 🤣❤️💍
DECOR
Yvonne, the absolute superstar! 🤍 She helped Ellie make the Hacienda even more beautiful, with Janne’s gorgeous flower decorations adding the perfect finishing touches. The wooden flower arch was especially stunning and made such a beautiful backdrop for the day! 🌸✨
FUN PHOTOS
Lots of silly moments with my bridesmaids, laughing our way through the day and coming up with fun ideas to recreate, from singing in the bath to champagne sprays! 🥂😂 Some of my favourite memories are the ones where we were just being completely ourselves and having the best time together. 🤍
DINNER RECEPTION
Our reception was just beautiful, with Aperol Spritz flowing, Jesus playing phenomenal Spanish guitar against the mountain backdrop, and everyone mingling, laughing and soaking up the atmosphere. 🍹🎸
The dinner reception was incredible, especially the food, and our table captain challenges definitely got everyone involved! At one point, Phil and I looked over to see my dad, my brother Adam and on of our besties Morgan having a three-way game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who had to down their drinks. 😂 Moments like that made the whole experience so special and had us absolutely crying with laughter! ❤️
CHALLENGES
The heat was definitely a challenge! It was SO hot, especially in my dress, but thankfully my makeup artist is an absolute magician and not a single bit of sweat showed through! 😂✨ The second dress change was a total lifesaver, but also such an iconic moment in itself! 🤍🥂
HOW WAS THE DAY
Honestly, the best day and week of our lives! 🤍 I have the biggest post-wedding blues, but so many incredible memories that we’ll treasure forever. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helped make it so special and to all our favourite people who made the trip out to celebrate with us. We really did have the best time, and we wish we could do it all over again!
