Capturing the Liquid Love

The moment of a first look

First looks

first looks

Over and over again I’m asked what my favorite moment of photographing a wedding is; and every time my answer is the same: the moment the groom sees his beautiful bride for the very first time. There are no words to describe the incredible emotion that flows between the couple during this special and fleeting moment, so I document it with images instead!

Questions and answers

There are pros and cons to everything, but let's use this space to talk about the pros of a first look. Normally the time for bride and groom portraits is straight after the ceremony, during cocktail hour. This is also the time used for bridal party and family photos. So, as a photographer, we divide those shots up to fit into that one hour..... "I want more time.....!" (in a whiny voice) says I. Traditionally speaking the couple should not venture off too far from the venue, as once cocktail hour is over, the guests are seated and formalities begin. Doing a first look allows me to take you to different locations, like a pier, or a deserted beach, a field, an old house or many other possibilities. You look the best, fresh out of makeup and hair. This allows me to capture lots of different shots of you both together, alone.... with no distractions... and when we head back, we make sure you are in time for a makeup and hair touchup.
