Tell me about your dress.
Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one? Who were you with?My dress was very special. I bought it from a well-known dress designer in Durban, South African. Hanrie Lues Bridal. The dress was brought in January 2020 and remained on the shelf for almost 2 years until I could wear it. Hanrie is an exclusive dress designer in South Africa and luckily the dress still fitted perfectly on my wedding day. My parents bought it all the way from home for me to wear and it was very sentimental wearing the dress all the way her in Cayman.
How did you choose the groom’s outfit?
We love the story of Rory’s suit. When he was in Hong Kong in 2007 on his way to compete in the world Strongest Man he had a custom suit made. Since then the same tailor, Manhattan Tailor sent him a Christmas Card every year to our home address in South Africa. When it was time to get a suit for the wedding Rory phoned them up and they still had all his measurements from back then. He chose what he wanted and they made the suit to fit him exactly with the same measurements and sent it to him in Cayman!
How would you describe your overall wedding experience?
We loved our wedding experience, we did not every dream of it being this way but it turned out better than we would have hoped, the whole day from beginning to end worked out perfectly! We were so glad we chose the Ritz-Cartlon, Ashley our wedding planner was phenomenal.
Can you tell us a cute story/experience about you both?
We had a long road to our wedding due to covid-19 however in the end it turned out to be the perfect day! We got engaged on Christmas Day 2019 at our home in Durban, South Africa surrounded by all our family. in 2020 we went into the the new year with the excitement of wedding planning. After choosing everything perfectly our date was set for September 2020 but fate had other plans for us, bringing on Covid and then bringing Rory and I to live and work in beautiful Cayman. After moving the wedding a number of times, we decided to have a small ceremony when our family came out to visit in December 2021. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and a better wedding. It was a special day surrounded but family and new friends and the Ritz-Carlton wedding team outdid themselves on every detail. We will cherish the memory of our beautiful wedding on the beach in the Cayman Islands.
