SLIDESHOW

We really liked the signing of the marriage license as part of our ceremony. It was a great moment with our dads (who served as our witnesses) and provided for a laugh when my attorney husband read the entire document before he signed it! It’s a legally binding document, after all…

My two cousins (who stood up in the wedding) and I drove to Chicago, the closest BHLDN store. We found their dresses, and two potentials for me. I bought both (BHLDN allows returns within 30 days), wore them around the house a bit and immediately knew which dress was mine. It was super comfortable!

I wore a ring that belonged to my grandmother on my right hand and carried my mother’s wedding clutch. They have both passed on, so it was a simply but meaningful way to incorporate them into our day.

About a month after we moved into our high-rise in Detroit, we went out to dinner, watched a random street performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show and grabbed a late night drink. When we got back to our apartment, we were standing by the window (still in awe of our view over the city) and Michael pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. I think my first response was “have you just been carrying that round in your pocket the whole night?!,” quickly followed by “yes, of course!”

Don’t worry about how the photographs will turn out – that’s Rebecca’s job 🙂 Just be with each other and have fun.

We did see each other and we wouldn’t change a thing. It was so great to just be with each other for a couple hours before joining our family and friends.

Best day/week ever.

Cracked Conch deserves an amazing shout out. The location is special to our family, as it was one of my grandmother’s favorite restaurants, but the team did an incredible job with our evening. They were attentive, flexible and kind.

We would tell our groomsmen not to go on the morning dive so they don’t miss the “getting the groom ready” pictures. Haha!

Choose what matters to you most and focus on that. You can’t possibly exceed expectations in all areas, so pick one or two and execute those flawlessly.

Cayman is my (Danielle) second home. I grew up in those waters and on that beach, visiting my grandparents. When we decided on a destination wedding, Cayman was the natural choice.

Rebecca is pretty much extended family at this point. She’s done a few of our weddings, family pictures, etc. We would never think of using anyone else.
