All About The Dress

I actually found my dress before we booked our wedding in Spain. Being an only girl with two brothers , my mom was only too excited to get trying on dresses only a few weeks after Thomas and I got engaged. I tried on a handful of dresses and knew I wanted something that would allow me to have the princess gown for ceremony and something a bit more fitted for the evening. The second I tried on the dress, and put on the overskirt I looked over and mom was crying. My sister in law ,also bridesmaid, Gwen was with us also and we knew it was the dress for me. I 100% got what you call ‘the feeling’ when I tried it on.

How did you choose the groom’s outfit?

He knew he wanted something snazzy, light in colour and funky. He wanted to stand out from the groomsman and also get the chance to wear a suit he wouldn’t have worn at home in Ireland.

Did You See Each Other Before the Wedding?

On the morning of our wedding we ate breakfast together with our family and (most of) our bridal party – some had a few too many to drink the night before. We then had a swim in the pool just the two of us , and went our separate ways to get ready for the big day. It was exactly how we wanted it to be and made the whole experience more relaxed for us both.

Bringing a Little of Ireland to Spain

We had Thomas sister Anne and Thomas friend Seamus play a beautiful rendition of Dublin in the rare Auld times on fiddle and guitar. It brought a touch of Irishness to our ceremony which we loved. We had late night snacks of Irish Tayto sandwiches which were a huge hit with our guests.

How Did You Meet?

We both swiped right ❤️ Thomas claims Amanda was an hour late for our first date but Amanda says it was only 20 minutes. We went for dinner and hit it off, and continued on for drinks in one of our favourite pubs Mickey Martins. Then we continued on to Nancy blakes for some more drinks and dancing and we have been by each others side ever since ❤️

Just a Cute Story

Thomas did an almost second proposal christmas last year, when he had our dog hunter gift me my actual engagement ring on a walk on our favourite beach at home. It was so thoughtful and romantic.

How Did He Pop the Question?

We were on holidays in Dubai ( delayed 30th birthday celebrations ) visiting friends. They organised a romantic night for just us 2, little did they know they were organising a very special night for us , thank you Tracy and Eoghan. We went for dinner in Pai Thai , a gorgeous restaurant which is set in a mini Venice setting. After dinner ,we had a gondola ride down to the beach. We walked the beach with the sun setting under the beautiful Burj Al Arab when Thomas got down on one knee. It was a huge surprise. I love the moon, and Thomas proposed with a crescent moon promise ring which is very sentimental to me. We then went for champagne to celebrate and kept the exciting news for just us two to enjoy for a few days until we got home to tell our family and friends. It was just perfect.

The Perfect Venue

The feeling we both got the first time we visited last August. It was actually a wildcard , Julie at sunshine weddings brought us to Casa de le Era first before any of the venues we had picked ourselves prior to traveling to Marbella for viewings. The Bouganville growing all over the venue was just so beautiful and the views down to the sea. It is such a magical place and ticked all our boxes we knew it was the one.

Thoughts on the Wedding Planners

Scott and the Sunshine weddings team were just amazing from start to finish. Always so friendly , fun and so professional. They made our dream of a destination wedding a reality and we will be forever grateful to the whole team for all they have done for us.

Destination Wedding Advice

Just do it. Trust your planners they know best. If you have an idea or something you really want let your planners know and they will do everything they can to make it work .and know that it all comes together , not to let themselves get too stressed out. It will be the best few days you ever spend with your friends and family as husband and wife x lastly, know your budget , it’s very easy to gey carried away!

Something A Little Extra

We had a world class Flamenco Dancer and Spanish Guitarist perform for our guests after dinner in the magical atmosphere of the amphitheater at Casa de le Era. It added that added touch of Spain which made our evening extra special.

First Dance

Our first dance was to ‘After rain ” by Dermot Kennedy. We have gone to see Dermot in concert so many times so this song is really special to us.
