I am beyond excited to finally release this wedding to a very patient couple AND a very patient mother of the bride who actually is also a photographer too…

I have known Zach and his mum for many years and watched as Zach has become an incredible person (thanks mama!) , so when we got to finally meet Mayzie… wow! perfect for each other. I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding and was thrilled as their day approached!

My family and I were vacationing on the island and we met attending one of the meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses. When I entered the Kingdom Hall he was the first person I saw and we made instant eye contact. Some people don’t believe in love at first sight, but it truly was.

special notes from brides dad

He was visiting me in Maine and we drove to Bar Harbor to hike some trails. My whole family was with us (grandparents and all) so we drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain and while we were walking around top he pulled me aside from everyone and said, “ I think this is the best time more than ever….(pulls out box)… will you marry me?” And of course I said yes!

I got my dress from Henry’s Bridal. It has a sweet heart neckline with straps and everything from the waist up was beaded. The bottom part was poofy with suttle ruffle layers overlapping each other. It reminded me of the waves of the beach so I thought it was perfect! My mother and sisters were with me day in and day out. As for my groom I was searching through Pinterest for ideas and of course I found something I couldn’t pass up. He wore a light grey suit with a white shirt and tie. The tie had a shiny paisley pattern on it to add a little touch and he had a jacket pocket hanky matching the tie with a white rose boutineere and a small starfish.

My favorite moment from the wedding was seeing my husband burst into tears as soon as he saw me. Not because he was crying but because of the meaning behind his tears.

During our vows I was concentrating on making sure I didn’t say them wrong. Right before I had gone down the aisle I was super nervous waiting in the limo, it was the first time I had felt nervous all day. But as soon as I started walking and saw my husband everything was just fine.

Planning a destination wedding can be hard and stressful with not being there and seeing what’s going on. I was able to move down to the island around two months before hand to help with everything so that made things much less worrisome. My best advice would be to not let the stress crowd out how happy this occasion is. More than likely something will go wrong while planning, so just remember that in the end it’s about you and your bride/groom, and nothing else.

Just ask Rebecca Davidson’s Hollins to take them and you won’t have any complaints!
(awww thanks mayzie… love ya!)

We had plenty of time to get so many great shots. Our wedding photos were taken right after our ceremony so we didn’t socialize with many before we left because talking with everyone it would have been dark before we would have even left. So don’t feel bad if you don’t get to say hello to everyone because it is still about you and your bride/groom.

We did not see each other at all before the wedding and I think the waiting was good because that’s what made it so special and emotional.

As husband and wife we danced to Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

It was beyond amazing! You and your family are such wonderful people, Zach and I really love you guys.
