How did you meet

(Setting the scene) My mom and Keenan’s dad worked at Butterfield and would work there for several years. It would be through a Bank event where the families would learn that they had a lot in common.

Keenan’s mom from the US and my mom from Canada and both dads from Cayman. It was an easy Saturday afternoon, the Tathum’s went for a drive and found themselves in a West Bay neighbourhood where they saw some familiar faces, The Ebanks, hanging out in their front yard.

I was one and a half years old and Keenan was two and a half years old when we first met. From then there were tell tale signs, as that first play date would end with Keenan pushing me around the front garden in his little tykes car. What was an impromptu drive would turn into the first of many times the Tathums and Ebanks would hang out

How did Keenan pop the question

We decided to take what I thought was a random weekend staycation at his parent beach condo with our puppy Roman. We checked in Friday after work and had a chill evening and order in a couple of cheeseburgers. The next morning he woke up around 6:30 because he had to study and took Roman out for his morning business. By 8:30 he sent Roman back in the room with me, who licked my face to wake up. I got up brushed my teeth wash my face and throw my hair up in a sloppy bun and I walked out, Keenan was reading his books but I notice a bottle of Moet on the counter. (I thought to myself Keenan doesn’t like champagne…the cleaners must have dropped it to the wrong room).

I said to Keenan umm whats with the champagne…he looked at me with the biggest smile and got up from the table got down one knee …laughing with a box in his hand. I looked at him confused and said THIS BETTER BE FOR REAL BECAUSE…! Then i realized it was a nervous laugh and Roman walked over and sat on the ground right next to his dad (not planned). Keenan then said (box still close) i planned a whole speech but i cant remember it but i love you and would love nothing more then to spend the rest of my life with you! I was like oh my god YES! I gave a him the biggest hug then asked him, well aren’t you going to show me the ring!!

How did you pick the grooms outfit

My husband, is man of going with the flow planning isnt really his thing. We were in Miami, staying at his aunts house, he googled search the closest shop (and he didnt read appointment required). We showed up to a family owned shop. We told them we didn’t have an appointment but they were between appointments (45mins to be exact).

The owner sat us down and he looked at me and said you must be the Boss, tell me about your dress. I showed him pictures and told him my thoughts. He looked at Keenan and said, before you tell me what you would like, I am going to give you options based on her dress and then you tell me your thoughts. At the end of the day you must complement her and need to be equally outstanding when you walk in. He put him in a beautiful light grey suit with velvet black lapels. The owner called it the Bond look, Keenan was sold instantly. Especially when he realize how lightweight the suit was! He looked like Mr. GQ!

Tell us about your dress

It was the first time traveling since Covid, November 2021, I was taking a trip to visit my Family in Prince Edward Island, Canada. My mom, sister and I decided to take the opportunity and dress shop while we were traveling since we didnt know when the next opportunity of travel will be. We decided to take 3days before going to PEI to look for dresses in New Brunswick and stayed with a family friend. My aunt drove over to join in the festivities. We would have loved to have my cousins and my grand mother come along however covid restrictions reduced the number of people attending the appointment. The first day, I tried about 20 dresses all beautiful. I went in there with an idea of what I wanted however that idea quickly flew out the window and I was back at square one…with not a single clue!!

By the end of the appointment I was down to two dresses I was very confused very overwhelmed and felt stuck. At that time, my mom knew the it was time to go as I continued to grow very frustrated and most importantly this bride to be needed to be fed. Day 2 , we drove 2.5hrs to this tiny little town, Sussex. As you entered Sussex you are welcomed by a Fudge Factory. This town is much like those little towns in the Hallmark Christmas movies. We pulled up to Lockharts wedding. It was in this beautiful victorian styles home.

We were greeted by the sweetest people. I was asked what kind of dress I was looking for. I was honest and told her I was stuck on two but I was open to anything. I showed her the pictures of the dresses and told ideally what I thought I was looking for: traditional, ivory, clean bottom but maybe a lacey bodice, def need straps, i think i like fit and flare, no train or a small one, scoop neckline, and long veil. She said alright follow me. She pulled 6 dresses we got in the changing room, and she took this dress out from the pack. She said I believe this what you are looking for, I want you to try it on first. I looked at the dress I thought it was beautiful but I wasnt sure, to be honest I was nervous that I wouldnt find anything!

However, when i put it on I was in complete shock! This dress was everything i asked for and more! The first dress of the day! It hugged in all the right places, it was traditional but yet modern, it had detailed lace but yet simple and beautiful and a medium length train (most beautiful part of the dress). It was perfect! I tried on the other dresses, because I literally found my dress in 10mins, however trying on the other 5 (two didnt even make it out the changing room) made me very confident that dress 1 was my dress!

How would you describe this day

It was honestly the best day ever! We had fun the entire time and it was so nice to have everyone together over those couple of days.

Did you see each other before the wedding

We did a first look! 10/10 recommend!

Keenan’s Cayman Islands wedding

Unique item at wedding

Keenan and I have known each other since we were toddlers. The first time we met , Keenan was pushing me around in his Little Tikes car. For the wedding, Priscilla was able to get two Littles Tikes cars with Mr Ebanks and Mrs Ebanks written on the licenses plates. Our most favorite piece of decor!

How did you feel walking down the aisle

I was so nervous walking down the aisle but when I got there I was never more certain about anything in my life!

What were you most anxious

I dont have an eye for design and decorating and I had no idea what it was going to look like. I kinda told Priscilla and my aunty Jacqui some ideas and they went with it. I couldnt been more happy everything was beautiful!

Favourite parts of wedding

The speeches! They were all so amazing! And the Party!! Once i got in the dance floor i never got off until it was time to go!
