As cousin Patty Sue said at the rehearsal, “The Church will be decorated with their love for each other”, and it was.

We met in 2010 and ended up dating steady within a year. We took a trip to Grand Cayman together in 2012. While we were there we took a long walk on the beach and talked about life. We both agreed that neither of us wanted to get married, but that if we did it would be somewhere like Grand Cayman. Over the next few years we fell madly in love with each other and never wanted to be apart so we returned this year to be married in the family church and live happily ever after.

I found it at the second boutique I went to with my sister and a friend. I had been being super picky (No lace, no crystal, no cupcake dresses, etc) and striking out, but on a whim I picked a random dress and fell in love. When I saw it on I felt as if everything fell into place, that I was a bride – I knew this was the dress I wanted to get married in as I felt beautiful.

We chose Elmslie Memorial United Church because it was the family church when Tamara’s Grandmother was growing up there. We chose October 19th for the wedding because that was her Grandfather’s birthday.

Justin was in desperate need of a new suit, and Tamara has an obsession with pinterest, which helped with choosing the colors. The tie and pocket square came from Vivid Clothing Toronto.

My something borrowed was my great grandmothers locket, which was incorporated into the bouquet, and my mother in law gave me a handkerchief from Ireland, and my great uncle Bill gave me away.

Overjoyed and giddy, I kept joking that I was going to run down the aisle but once I saw him I was calm and ready to say I do!

Justin went to school with my sister Jen, who years later ended up dating Justin’s best friend. Jen and Justin’s birthdays are a day apart, he came to her birthday party where I was the DD, and had my face buried in my phone, he took my phone and asked to buy me a drink. We wound up in a playful, ridiculous wrestling match over my phone, and at the end of the night he carried me across the room away from an awkward conversation, and the rest is history.

He did a good job of keeping it a secret. In January of 2017 they attended a New Years Eve Concert in Detroit with Tamara’s brother and sister in-law. At Midnight Just dropped to one knee and proposed to Tamara. Even though she couldn’t really hear his words she saw the ring and him on one knee and dove into his arms yelling YES !

I was nervous about Justin seeing me for the first time, I was worried he would hate the dress. As soon as I saw him and the way he smiled at me everything else faded to the background, it all worked out.

We almost kissed before we were supposed to, but we were sternly reminded by our pastor that he will tell us when that would happen.

My grandmother was born and raised there, and I have a lot of family still residing on the island. We also wanted a simple wedding without all the frills and stress.

Rebecca came highly recommended on all the wedding sites and boards, then it turned she had worked with my family in Cayman to the point that they refer to her as family so it was kismet.
