THE DRESS
I was with my mum, my best friend and maid of honour Ashley and my cousin and bridesmaid Amy. It was the first shop I went to! And about the 5th dress I tried on. It wasn’t what I had envisioned but my mum picked the dress out and she was right, it was perfect. I went away for 2 weeks to think about it but went back and got it, as I didn’t want to try on anymore as I just loved it. It felt perfect for a summer wedding in the sunshine.

HOW DID YOU MEET
We met on a night out in Redcar. My friend was chatting up Chrissy’s friend Jordan so me and Chrissy sat down and got chatting. Jordan ended up being the best man at our wedding!

PROPOSAL
In our living room on Christmas Day. I was upstairs getting ready when Chrissy shouted me down. When I came down, there was a trail of rose petals to the living room. Chrissy was on one knee in a heart made of rose petals, he had our daughter on his knee in an outfit which said ‘will you marry my daddy?’ And a ring in his other hand. Anyone who knows Chrissy knows how soft he is, he cried before he even popped the question!

UNIQUE MENTIONS
I don’t think there is anything we had that was unusual. We just wanted the vibe to be chilled and laid back. We didn’t want anything too formal, and just wanted all of our guests to feel relaxed and able to enjoy the day – which we all certainly did!

FIRST LOOKS
Not with each other but it was emotional doing first looks with my parents. My mum had seen me in the dress twice already but it’s very different trying it on in a shop to when you’ve had your hair and make up done and emotions are high on your special day.

THE VENUE
It’s difficult to imagine how things are going to come together, especially when you’ve been planning the details for over 2 years. I was nervous about how the day was going to go, if we’d arranged enough entertainment, if there was enough to keep the children busy etc. But it was absolutely perfect. I have to shoutout Sunshine Weddings here because they really did think of everything and the day couldn’t have possibly gone any better. We couldn’t have done it without them.

Flowers
Deseos flowers were the providers of our flowers and decor. We (I) wanted quite neutral, muted tones and I loved what they did with the venue. I particularly loved the pampas ceremony structure, which they also reused for our table decor so things didn’t go to waste and to save us money.

THE AISLE
How did you feel….Amazing! Surprisingly, a lot more relaxed than I had imagined. I was just excited to get to the end of the aisle to see Chrissy.

THE KISS
Less awkward than I had imagined! I remember Chrissy asking me how do we kiss during the ceremony, how long for etc a long time ago and I laughed at him thinking what silly questions they were. Then in the run up I started to ask myself the same questions and we joked that we would practice the wedding kiss, but never did. On the day, it just happened so naturally and you forget that everyone is watching you.

TRADITIONS
Not really. We said traditional vows but then got carried away celebrating and didn’t realise until after we’d walked back down the aisle together that we actually missed the blessing; the last part of the ceremony!

TAKING PHOTOS
I’m not a very serious person so standing for posed photos isn’t really me. You noticed this straight away Rebecca and got us laughing, joking and being silly to get fun the pictures I wanted. Calum (groomsman) also insisted on a photo of all the groomsmen picking me up – which was chaotic to say the least!

RECEPTION
We wanted fun, party vibes after the meal, we had glow sticks, lights over the dance floor, Demian the sax player with DJ David James and everyone loved the open bar and pull your own pint station. We were – and still are – incredibly grateful to our friends and family for travelling from the UK to Spain for our wedding and we wanted to make sure that everything was taken care of for them on the day as our thank you to them.

APPRECIATION
I’d just like to say thank you to you, Rebecca. As someone who isn’t remotely girly or elegant, I was amazed at the beautiful photos you captured. Thank you for your support with Chrissy being unwell, and for being supportive and creative in finding ways to still get perfect photos of our day.
