The Westin

“We wanted somewhere that we could host both the ceremony and reception and the scenery of the ocean behind the lawn was stunning.”

Dress

“With the borders closed, I didn’t get the traditional “say yes to the dress” shopping experience – I never tried on any dresses or went to a physical store. I spent (what felt like a lot of time) browsing online. Most of the ones that stood out to me had an aspect that I really loved, but also something I really didn’t. When I finally found “Lorraine”, I instantly loved it. I tried to convince myself that I needed to look at more options, but I always came back to it. You would think the hardest part was over, but then I spent weeks trying to find a reputable retailer that could take my order online, and figuring out how to get it here as they could not ship internationally. I finally tried my dress on for the first time 4 months later, it wasn’t the love at first sight I expected and I didn’t know how to feel. But, when I finally got the alterations it turned out perfect!”

Jermeil is a local CHH rapper and also goes by the name of J-Prophyt. He wrote a special song just for me that he performed for the first time at the reception.

How did you meet

“We met at work when I first returned from University during the summer of 2017. We remained friends while I traveled between Cayman and Tampa to finish my degree over the next few years, but once I graduated and was home for good, a spark kindled between us and the rest is history!”

How did he pop the question

“On New Year’s Eve 2020, we went to Kristina’s grandparent’s house to bring in the new year with family and fireworks. After the countdown and a huge firework display, I took her for a walk along the beach just below the porch where the family was gathered. She walked along reluctantly and tried pulling me back towards the house, and when she turned around, she instantly knew what was happening by the nervous look on my face. After pouring out my heart, I pulled out the ring I had just hidden in my jacket hood and asked her to marry me!”

How did you feel just before you walked down aisle

“I was ready to go! I had been waiting forever for this moment.’

What was your favourite moment from the wedding

“Jermeil’s favorite part was our vows. He was so emotional, it was beautiful. Mine was our first dance because I don’t think anyone really expected the twist of a fun dance, based on my reserved personality.”

Did you see each other before

We chose not to do a first look and didn’t see each other from the night before. I did get to peek at Jermeil walking down the aisle from the view of my room though!

How was working with the photographers

As soon as the team came they blended right in and got to work. It felt very natural, and we loved that they gave creative direction especially since I never know what to do in front of a camera.

Did you have anything unique that stood out

We had a really awesome photo booth with a custom sign we got made.

What made you the most anxious

“We coordinated the entire first dance ourselves (but mostly Jermeil) because the choreographer didn’t get back to us in time. We spent many nights practicing after work, but it was really hard to tell how it would come out on the Wedding day because I couldn’t practice in my dress and I was afraid I would trip on my train. When I did try to practice in my dress alone, I could never remember which way I was supposed to spin, so we ended up using a really big fleece blanket and tying it around my waist to give the length of the train. We snuck a quick practice in the TINY hotel room before our grand entrance, and it ended up coming out even better than we had expected!”

First dance

It was a combination of 2 songs: Known by Tauren Wells and Real Thing by Bitty Mclean.
