An amazing and once in a lifetime experience
The nice weather and convenience to fly to Malaga from Ireland. In the end we fell in love with Fuengirola and the surrounding area and definitely see ourselves coming back again and again.
We knew from the start that we wanted the wedding party (Groom, Goomsmen, Father of the bride, Father of the Groom, both of our brothers) to wear a suit in the blue family. All the suits were bought in Club Dangan Menswear in Ennis Co. Clare Ireland. The men wore a blossom pink tie and pocket squares to match the bridesmaid’s dresses.
We first met each other through our close friends in college. We hit it off instantly but like a lot of Irish people we were shy so it was a while before John picked up the courage to ask Karrina out! Once he did we never looked back.
John asked the question on my birthday which is 3 days after Christmas!. He brought me to the grounds of the University where we met to a beautiful spot over looking the picturesque River Shannon. I had no idea what was going to happen as he had convinced me that we were there to meet a friend, I can’t believe I didn’t suspect anything!

That I would be ready in time!! There were a lot of hair and make up to get through! It all worked out and I was walking down the aisle on time.
John’s suit was bought also at Club Dangan Menswear in Ennis Co. Clare Ireland. John wore a blue suit by White Label and he had a blue tie to match the flower colour scheme and juxtapose the groomsmen’s blossom pink.
The dress…. was an ivory white ‘fit and flare’ sheath dress with a fish tail. The dress was made with satin, tulle and organza with beaded lace appliques. The dress had a plunging open V-neck that was covered with a beaded insert, and the back was a V-back. The dress had a scalloped hem with beaded belt detail. I booked an appointment in Lilac Rose as the first place for my wedding dress shop, I didn’t go in thinking I was going to buy a dress that day. However, after describing what I was looking for to the stylist she brought out my wedding dress within 2 minutes! I knew straight away that this was the one. I tried on a several other dresses but I still found myself going back to the first dress and within the hour I had my dress! I never thought in a million years that I would get the dress in one go as I had booked appointments in other shops!
During the vows we were both nervous as we didn’t want mess up the lines! I (Karrina) was nervous on the walk down until I finally got to hold John’s hand where I felt calm and ready to get married.
Always get a planner! We were very lucky with Sunshine Wedding as they matched our needs at all times.
Did you have any traditions in your wedding
We had quite a mix of different traditions at our wedding that included local Spanish tradition (trading coins) to modern takes such as the sand ceremony. We tailored the wedding to suit our tastes.
Every moment was amazing, from getting prepared to the walking down the aisle to dancing the night away! However, a standout moment for us both was when all our family and friends singing to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody all around us as the last song of the night.
Bridesmaid’s dresses are Dessy dresses which were bought in Lilac Rose Bridal. The dresses are by Alfred Song and were a blossom colour.
