The Dress

My mum and I spent a very fun weekend in Paris visiting five of the main dress designers. I’d already had an idea in my mind about what I wanted – although naturally the dress I ended up with was completely different! I’d thought I wanted a high neck, very silky and slim white dress, and instead I fell in love with a gown fitting for a princess! I tried on 25 dresses on that trip, and my wedding dress was number 20 in the penultimate dress shop. I had just tried on a fully bedazzled sequin dress, making me feel way too busy and like I was wearing kilos of glitter. When I put my dress on, I felt like I stepped into the most special gown, and I came out to my mum telling her I felt I should be royalty! My mums tears in her eyes sealed the deal – this was the one!

The First Look

We didn’t do any first looks with each other, but I did a first y with my bridesmaids which was absolutely fabulous!! They all squealed in delight and made me feel like a little girl who had turned into a princess!

How did you meet

We met five years ago through a mutual business friend who wanted to introduce us for professional collaborations – little did we know an impromptu drink would turn into the most wonderful, happy relationship and the wedding of the century a few years later!!

The Decor

Celebrations did an absolutely stellar job with the flowers, decorations, set up and everything in between. They made sure every small detail was arranged, even changing things last minute with my mum to make it even more beautiful. The Cake Studio made a wonderful cake and copied the lace patterns from my dress and copied these into the icing – absolutely stunning! There was even a mini replica of our dog, Jacaranda, who couldn’t be with us on the day but had an important place on the cake!

The Details

My mum had done an amazing job orchestrating all the wedding celebrations, but the wedding day itself was beyond anything I’d ever gone to or even seen in movies! The decorations were expertly planned with the various teams, the many surprises like the piano on the beach, Nik’s Rumbana and the fireworks at the end, were all incredibly special moments that made the day even more amazing! We also created our own special vows which gave the ceremony even more meaning and happiness.

The Aisle

I know some brides say they feel nervous (and indeed everyone was always asking me if I was nervous in the lead up), but all I could think about was how happy I was to be finally marrying this man. When I walked down the aisle I don’t even remember the music playing that I’d chosen or seeing anyone’s faces in any detail. All I could see was Nik at the end of the aisle, looking happy and excited, against a beautiful backdrop of the ocean and clouds like it had been painted! The weekend had felt surreal, going at a million miles with all the excitement, but at that moment time slowed down and all I was aware of was our little bubble as I walked down to Nik.

A Special Moment

This wedding was special for so many reasons – people coming in from all over to celebrate our marriage across an amazing few days, the surprises on the day including the wedding, rumbana and fireworks, and also how wonderful my maid of honour Amelia was in the lead up to the wedding supporting Nik and myself with a few small details. But the cherry on the top to make this wedding the happiest day of my life was the honour of walking down the aisle with my mum ❤️ I’ve always known from when I was a little girl wanted her to give me away, and it was as special a moment as it was to marry Nik!

The Kiss

Oh it was incredibly happy! As the Reverend was saying his final words to pronounce us husband and wife, I remember being very calm and peaceful. The sun was filtering through the palm trees, the wind was in my hair and I could hear the ocean, everything was so incredibly perfect and I was marrying my best friend. I feeling so full of joy, that when we finally kissed, I had such a big grin on my face that I’m sure it looked a little goofy!

The Venue

I wanted a beach wedding and left the venue up to mum and Claude . I never saw it until the day and it was perfect. The beach, the setting, everything.

The Guests

It was actually great fun standing at the front of the reception/dinner area finally being able to say hello to everyone! We then spent some time taking lots of photos with everyone.

The Photo and Video Crew

We loved the action shots and creative positions! My favourites were sitting at the piano, walking along the dock and the sunset beach shots. The photography and videography crew were so engaging and great fun to work with!
