Dress Boutique: Fairley by Watters

My mom and I went to Boston to shop for a wedding dress. I actually spotted my dress when I first walked into the boutique. Unfortunately, I was told it wouldn’t be possible to order it in time for a January wedding. I procrastinate, wedding dress shopping was no exception. After trying on several beautiful dresses, I asked if I could try on (for fun) the first dress I had admired. They obliged and when it fit perfectly, she told me I could purchase it as a sample dress. I’d describe my wedding dress as different. I loved the champagne lining under the Sutan lace and the soft netting overlay. Besides being incredibly comfortable, I thought it’d look nice for a beach wedding.

Alex chose a light grey suit from JCrew. We found a variation of blue ties from The Tie Bar for him, his groomsmen, and my brother.

We were introduced by one of my best friends from college. We went out with a group of friends for a housewarming party. Christine and Alex worked together, and she decided we should meet. She (sneakily) set us up without actually telling me or him that the other person knew about it. We’ve been together ever since.

We decided to do a first look. We both wanted to have a few moments alone together before the ceremony and I think it helped our nerves. I also liked the idea of having photographs of us in a different location.

Alex proposed at our home in Baltimore during Christmas. Our doggies are an important part of our little family so I was happy we could capture the moment with them since they weren’t at our wedding. We left for Joshua Tree the next morning for a vacation with Alex’s family. It was very special to be able to celebrate our engagement with them.

Go with a fun and experienced photographer, aka Rebecca 🙂

Everything was incredible, from our wedding location to the people that helped make the day perfect . We wouldn’t have changed anything. I loved seeing how happy Alex was when I was walking down the aisle to him. We both loved having all of our favorite people around us to celebrate our special day.

Before I walked down the aisle, I was watching our nieces and my nephew from the balcony above. They were throwing flower petals EVERYWHERE in the foyer. When it came time for them to walk down the aisle, they didn’t throw one petal. My dad and I found it very entertaining. I remember feeling incredibly happy and thankful. Thankful to have my dad to walk me down the aisle and to have our family there with us. I think we were both a little nervous during our ceremony but also amused because my brother had used an iPad to officiate our wedding.

I think finding an experienced and reliable wedding planner was key for us. If you have the means, I would highly recommend it for a destination wedding. Also, don’t stress too much. It goes by so quickly– try to enjoy every moment!!!

I let my bridesmaids choose what they wanted to wear. They all wore pastel shades, some wore floral dresses.

They had no idea what shade of grey to wear because Alex didn’t specify light grey 🙂 We had a mix of greys, all of which ended up wet from jumping in the pool.

We loved having Rebecca as our photographer. She is so fun and easy going. When she was photographing Alex’s nieces while I was getting my hair done, I knew we were lucky to have her for our wedding day. Alex and I don’t particularly enjoy having our pictures taken. Rebecca helped us feel comfortable and gave us direction when needed, which was perfect. She chose a beautiful spot for our first look too.

Alex and I wanted to have a small, more intimate wedding with our close friends and family. Living a good distance away from our families, we knew we wanted this celebration to be a family vacation of sorts. Time where we could relax and enjoy moments with our family in a beautiful paradise. The Caymans offered that and more than we ever imagined!
