THE EVENTS

As a destination wedding we really wanted to have a great experience with our guests so we had a two day event. We started day one with a chartered catamaran to Starfish Point, Stingray Bay, and Kaibo for lunch. That evening we had a Welcome Party at The Westin Beachhouse with games, prizes, and amazing food. There was giant jenga, cornhole, a cross word puzzle, and even a late night swim in a white pre-wedding dress.

HOW DID YOU FIRST MEET

We had several mutual friends on Facebook and it looked like we shared some hobbies so I sent Erin a friend request. I started a conversation about one of her posts from a deer hunt she had recently been on. One thing led to another, and eventually she invited me to join her and her dogs on a pheasant hunt. We talked the entire time, well according to Erin, I talked the entire time. She said she was paying attention to the dogs and trying to find the birds but noticed I asked a lot of questions. She thought it might be nice to have a chance to get to know me too so when we got back to the truck she asked if we could meet up for a drink or dinner next time. What we thought was just meeting for a pheasant hunt was actually our first date.

THE DRESS

Initially I ventured out dress shopping on my own. I wanted to find something I was comfortable and confident in. It took 6 stores, lots of attempts, and a few close calls to narrow it down to two. I took two of my best friends and sister in law to see both dresses but we all knew which one I was leaning toward. After trying them on the salesgirl had me try on a third dress and convinced me to buy it. I went across the street for dinner with my friends and immediately knew I made a mistake. We got up before our drinks came, went back to the store, cancelled the order, and reordered the original dress I wanted, which is the dress I wore.

HOW DID BEN POP THE QUESTION

In March we went to Disney World for Spring Break. Ben hired a photographer to take pictures of us in the area around Cinderella’s castle. When we got to the last stop, Cinderella’s Wishing Well, the photographer asked me to look at the castle behind me. When I turned around I was shocked to see Ben on his knee. We got engaged wearing Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears in the Magic Kingdom.

FIRST LOOK

We did our first look at the Villas Of The Galleon courtyard. Ben was waiting in the grass in his blue suit and white hat. I came out of the Villa fresh from hair and make up with a support squad in tow – his mom and my 3 best friends. We were both immediately crying and overwhelmed with so much joy. We both wiped our tears with the handkerchief I had enclosed as part of his wedding gift.

WEDDING VENUE

We wanted to be on a picturesque beach with soft sand.
Consuelo’s Beach has a unique backdrop and is rather private. It also has lovely palm trees framing the shore.
The staff at Villas of the Galleon were the most welcoming hosts. They accommodated all of our requests. Their villas were perfect for lodging our guests and for catering our meal. Their beach was pristine and shade trees were gorgeous.

RING WARMING CEREMONY

Our guests were shuttled from
Seven Mile Beach to South Sound’s Consuelo’s Beach for our ceremony. When they arrived they were greeted with a lemonade stand and Ring Warming ceremony while listening to a harp for musician. In honor of our engagement he even played Disney songs during parts of the event.

Ben was escorted down the aisle by his two children. Followed by the Flower-Best Girlfriends. Then Erin was escorted down the aisle by her most cherished friends.

THE AISLE

Ben – Super excited, I had been looking forward to seeing her all day.
Erin – A bit nervous at first but once I saw him everything was calm.

TRADITIONS

We had a reading from the Old Testament and An Irish Blessing during our ceremony. We wrote our own vows. We spent the night before the ceremony apart from each other. My “something old, borrowed, and blue” was his great grandmother’s handkerchief wrapped around my bouquet. We did a Celtic Ring Warming before the ceremony.
Wedding gift exchange – pearl earrings, fly fishing tie tack and cuff links. Ben’s ring is not traditional – It’s made of deer antler and fishing line.

THE KISS

Fun! He brought my hands on his shoulders and rolled me in to a dip (we had been practicing for months).

THE RECEPTION

Our reception was at Villas of The Galleon on the beach. We had the most amazing structure with chandeliers and florals hanging. We also had comfy couches for lounging after dinner. There was a gelato cart for late night snacks and a fire dancer performance for entertainment. We even snuck in a late night group swim before calling it a night.

DECOR

Juliette at Five Star Events curated the most epic decor. She turned the endless amount of Facebook reels, Pinterest pins, and random ideas in to the most warm and elegant experience. Our guests were overwhelmed with the details. We were stunned by her ability to seemingly make things happen with such ease. She’s an artist for sure.

TRASH THE DRESS

We had the most fun at our Trash The Dress session the day after our wedding. We went to Smith’s Cove and took amazing photos. We jumped off the rocks in to the water and then Ben carried me out of the water like The Little Mermaid. We also had a ton of fun making sure each of our guests got individually photographed throughout our two day event so they would have vacation memories as keepsakes from the wedding.
