Jason took advantage of a family reunion to propose so my whole family could celebrate with us. I suspected something might be up when he led me to a private garden for the sunset. Despite having been together for five years and having discussed marriage many times, when he got down on one knee my first reaction was “Is this real?!?” If the first moments of your engagement are any indication of the years to come, we’ll be spending a lot of time laughing and smiling and celebrating with those close to us.

Yes, we decided to do a first look so we would have more time to take pictures. I really recommend this as everything went by in a blur and I’m sure there are some pictures that we missed taking. But this way we had a few moments to ourselves before the wedding. It still felt special when I walked down the aisle even though he’d already seen me in my dress.

Absolutely perfect! It actually rained the day before so we had to have the rehearsal dinner inside instead of on the beach. We still had an amazing time even though it wasn’t what we had planned and then the morning of the wedding we woke up and the weather was gorgeous! Sharing that day with our friends and family and being surrounded by all their love was simply amazing.

If it’s something you are seriously considering go for it! Having a destination wedding lets you spend more time with your friends and family. I think the fact that everyone was able to hang out and get to know each other before the actual wedding made it more intimate and fun.

Our ceremony was really special. We actually wrote it together from different pieces that we pulled from our officiant as well as a few friends that had also chosen their own ceremonies. We wrote our own vows and chose a reading from “Song of the Open Road” by Walt Whitman, which captured our shared love of travel and excitement to share our lives together as one big adventure. I also really loved that as soon as the last song played at the reception a bunch of us ran to our rooms to change into swimsuits and went and jumped in the ocean for a late night swim. It was the best way to cap off such an amazing night.

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?Working with you was so awesome! You have such a great way of getting people to relax and have fun which is reflected in the photos. It was really important to us to capture those special moments of true feeling whether those evoked laughter or tears. You captured it all.

Stay true to yourselves. Decide what is most important to you to make the day special and memorable for you and your future spouse and then go with it.
