Cayman Islands Trash The Dress | Vanessa + Payton Part 2

Trash the Dress

Vanessa and Payton were married at the Caribbean Club, but decided at the last minute to meet up with me a few days later to Trash The Dress. See their full wedding here. I asked Vanessa and Payton why they decided to Trash the Dress…

What made you decided to Trash the Dress?

Every time I tell someone about trash the dress, I get the same response, “What a great idea! My dress has been in the back of my closet for years and I’ve never worn it”! I decided to do trash the dress because I knew it would be a fun experience and a chance to make more wedding memories. Trashing the dress is something I recommend to anyone whether you don’t want to completely ruin your dress or knew you would never wear it again. We went the 100% trash it route, but Rebecca could have easily taken beautiful shots without ruining my dress.

Was it fun Trashing the Dress?

We knew it was going to be a lot of fun from the get go because who wouldn’t want to get dolled up in wedding attire and jump into the ocean with your new spouse!? A few days after the wedding, Payton and I got ready as if we were going to get married all over again for our trash the dress shoot. Jackie Soriano came back to do my wedding hair and makeup (extra waterproof), which was a deja vu experience…minus the nerves! Rebecca picked Spotts Beach, an amazing rocky beach, which was perfect to truly trash my dress! We walked along the beach with my dress in the water and Payton’s suit rolled with his feet in the water to get warmed up. We moved to the rockier part of the beach where we sat on some shallow rocks and then went further in to be next to a beautiful rocky wall. There was a lot of laughter during this shoot because it was just relaxing and fun! We could truly be ourselves and Rebecca gave us great direction when it came to working with the water. At the very end we decided to jump off of a dock into ocean and fully submerge! My hair and makeup stayed intact (thanks to Jackie), so we were able to jump in a few more times. We had so much fun and it was our favorite part of our wedding experience…besides our first look shoot with Rebecca. Even after jumping into the ocean, the jewels on my dress were all still in perfect condition, so I’m having a necklace made for a keepsake to wear on anniversaries.
