THE DRESS
I wasn’t going to get a wedding dress, and had planned to wear a white dress. I saw a video of the dress on Instagram and thought it fit perfectly with a spanish villa wedding. I went to the shop with my mum, sister, and 2 of my bridesmaids, to try it on. To my dismay, they didn’t have it in a size small enough and there wasn’t any in stock in any other shops. I only tried on 2 dresses, the other was just so i could try a similar dress in my size. I left unsure what to do….And as fate would have it, i found the dress in the exact size i needed a few days later online!

WHERE ARE YOU FROM
Leanne – I’m from a small town in Scotland called (sunny) Montrose.
Rudi – I was born in Swansea but spent most of my childhood moving around. For the last 12 years I’ve also lived in Montrose.

WEDDING PLANNER
Our wedding planners were Sunshine Weddings. Scott and Cicilia made sure everything ran smoothly on our wedding day. All went without a hitch, and Rudi and I didn’t have to worry about a thing as the team made sure everything we had discussed prior was taken care of, meaning we could fully take in the day and spend time with all of our friends and family.

THE VENUE
Perched above the hill “Balcon del Golf”, La Susana offers an idyllic location, looking out on the crystalline shades of the Mediterranean shimmering on the horizon. Located 10 minutes from Marbella.
Amazing venue. We chose it because of the amount of people it sleeps, plus the 2 pools, beautiful gardens, amazing views etc.

DECOR
The decor was done by Deseos florist. They were so great and done exactly what we wanted. La Susana is naturally a very aesthetically pleasing venue with a lot of natural greenery. Wanting to compliment this with a touch of colour but keeping the view and existing greenery to be really appreciated by our guests. It looked better than expected and we can’t thank them enough for accepting all our last minute changes!

HOW DID YOU MEET
Rudi and I met whilst working offshore for a company called dolphin geophysical. Both on a seismic survey vessel called Artemis Arctic. Leanne was working as a geophysical data processor and Rudi was working as a seismic survey technician. We met in st martin in the Caribbean on a crew change. Rudi was old and bold onboard whilst Leanne was a new trainee on her first trip and quite nervous. The ship was delayed a few days and the company stupidly put us up in an all inclusive hotel, so Leanne got a chance to come out of her shell right away. Sailing over the Atlantic to Gibraltar and after a few too many drinks ashore a small kiss occurred and then right after Rudi broke his foot and was subsequently sent home….. the next trip was to Morocco and we fully had a chance to get to know each other after 5 weeks onboard. That trip we decided to go on a ski trip, innocently of course, but that innocence soon diminished and on that ski trip to glenshee the relationship was born.

HOW DID RUDI POP THE QUESTION
On a mountaintop in Val thorens France. It was planned that day, but it worked out better than expected as he accidently proposed at a beautiful viewpoint, which coincidentally was right outside a champagne bar!

HOW DID YOU FEEL WALKING DOWN THE AISLE
I’m not usually one to be centre of attention, so felt a bit nervous having all eyes on me. But the beautiful setting and walking towards Rudi put me at ease

TRADITION
During our ceremony we had a Scottish quiach (pronounced quake) which is a Scottish cup you take your first drink (usually single malt Scottish whisky) out of as a married couple. It symbolises the union of 2 people and the blending of their families.

THE KISS
Pretty tame… we’d agreed beforehand, no tongues! The mother’s were watching after all.

THE RECEPTION
Our aim was a weekend long party with a wedding ceremony thrown in for good measure. Friday which was meant to be a few welcome drinks ended up being a 3am finish in the nightclub….. to continue the party theme at the wedding we wanted the drinks to flow and the party to rock and so put bottles of shots on each table. The party continued the next day with a pool party. Come Monday everyone was sufficiently partied out.

THE SURPISE SINGER
There was an early start for 16 of the group with a golf trip to rio royal. We had our dog Ralphy turn up to the wedding unexpectedly in the form of a lifesized cut out! He took pride of place at the front of the aisle and then at the top table. He was way more well behaved than normal so worked out well. We had a very rude social media content creator, who was secretly a singer. Not a single person worked out why she was being so rude and some still couldn’t get their heads around it, even after a couple of songs!
