Chris had booked a holiday to Santorini as a surprise and proposed as the sun was setting before a meal he had arranged for us on our balcony, it was very romantic! (neither of us ate anything that night – the meal was wasted – but the fizz certainly wasn’t!) weird but true – a minister checked in next door to us a few hours after we had got engaged – he had came straight from a night time ceremony so we got some selfies with him & he gave us advice on long lasting marriages!

We had a long distance relationship for the first year and used to drive the 300 mile round journey every weekend to see each other. You know it’s love when you’re willing to get up every Monday morning at 4am to drive back in time for work!!

The only date the Hacienda had available when we enquiried for summer 2018 was 12.08.18 which is the weekend inbetween our Birthdays – a date that we have always celebrated on throughout our relationship – perhaps fate some might say!!

That’s a really difficult one as there are too many to chose from! From the relaxed atmosphere getting ready, to walking down the aisle with my Dad, to saying the vows with Chris, to the emotional/extremely funny speeches, to the beautiful food & decoration, to dancing the night away with our wonderful guests who LOVE to party, to jumping in the pool (luckily I’d changed out of my dress by that point) to the 6am finish!! I loved it all … can we go back and do it again please?!!!

We were so grateful for all of the effort that everybody made to come out to Spain and having all of our family & friends with us to celebrate was an unbelievable experience, the memories that we have from that week are priceless! I have used this phrase to sum up the whole experience a few times and i think it sums it up perfectly – we had the time of our lives!!!

We aren’t very traditional but opted for the now popular ‘photobooth’ option as our guest book with the photos and messages included, both are extremely funny! … especially the messages near the end of the night when the sambuccas have kicked in! I will cherish that book forever as it is absolutely hilarious!! … However I must mention that some of the guests were in full party mode and had not even realised that there was a photobooth there as they hadn’t left the dance floor in the 3 hours it was there for!!

Chose a good wedding planner! It completely eradicated all of the stress that can be involved organising vendors etc which is exactly what we wanted for our wedding, minimal stress, maximum fun!

Seeing how gorgeous the bridesmaids, page boys & groomsmen looked and I’ll never forget how beautiful & glamorous my Mum & Mother in law looked. All the groomsmen had a ‘walking’ shot which was so funny for us to watch on, it took a few shots to get them all walking at the right pace and we sang the Reservoir Dogs theme tune to them throughout!

The only thing that had worried me about the wedding day was getting overly emotional saying my vows as it had been quite an emotionally charged run-up! I did have a few tears but managed to hold it together a lot better than I had anticipated. Chris had been nervous about giving his speech but safe to say it was absolutely brilliant, funny & emotional in perfect measure! My Dad had also been nervous about his speech due the emotions of the day, he started with the funny bits but as soon as he hit the heartfelt part he got a bit choked up, my Father in law stepped in to help him finish it & seeing them stand side by side to complete it was a truly beautiful moment. The best men however couldn’t wait to give their speech! A photo book of Chris throughout a span of their 25 years of friendship accompanied their speech and there were some absolute treats in there!!

And then we all jumped in the pool…. of course……
