Story

We met in Germany, had a long-distance relationship for 8 months over Skype, then Marc moved to Canada to be with Candice. Marc has since become a baseball player, a hockey player and loves to wear ball caps. He has adapted very quickly to the Canadian ways.

I made the spontaneous decision to call my friend Dalia and see if she would check out a boutique near my home, Superior Bridal. I only tried on two dresses and said ‘yes’ to both of them! I had to video-call my mom and sister to get their opinion. In the end, I went with this dress because it had a little extra sparkle to it.

February 15th, 2014, my friend Dalia and I decided to celebrate her birthday in Frankfurt at the club Gibsons. Dalia introduced me to Marc and instantly I was drawn to his sense of humour. I had to leave suddenly because a friend wasn’t well. Marc and I exchanged numbers and the rest is history!

Saturday, the 16th of September 2017, we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Marc suggested we drive to Tobermory for the weekend. In Tobermory we went for a walk along the beautiful white rock beach and took in the stunning scenery of crystal clear water and cliffs surrounding us. While at a lookout point, we were sitting together on a cliff, talking about our life together. As we were talking Marc tried to discretely pull something out of our backpack. When I saw a ring box come out, which he had hidden inside a sock, his words became a blur. Neither of us can remember exactly what he said, however, we both remember that it was beautiful and that I said ‘yes!’.

It sounds cliché, but it was the best day of our lives. Everything was even better than we had imagined and we had already really built it up in our heads before-hand. We are both still floating on a cloud thinking back to this day.

We went shopping together for Marc’s suit. As soon as he tried this one on, we knew it was perfect!

We were happy that we waited. It was so nice to see Marc’s reaction as I walked up the isle. Little did I know, he had already gotten teary-eyed after seeing the flower girl walking up. He just saw a white dress peaking around the corner and started to melt. Aww!

Marc: When I saw Candice walking down the isle with her father and she was teary-eyed. Also when Steve ripped his pants.
Candice: When Marc read his promises and made me both laugh and cry. Also when Kat thought that she could out-drink the Germans and had a 3hr nap in the lounge chair soon after.

Our vows were both fun and emotional. We wrote them ourselves, so they were very personal, full of sincerity and a little humour.

We wrote our own promises to each other and revealed them only at the ceremony. Marc made a promise to try to injure himself less. Candice made the promise to have ice packs ready for Marc after his soccer games.
