Jaspreet and Eric – An Indian wedding at the Marriott Grand Cayman

January 22, 2014

Jaspreet and Eric had an amazing wedding at the Marriott Resort Grand Cayman. Their wedding was a Sikh wedding full of colour and customs and the ceremony was called a Anand Karaj ! The tent was set up on the beach and early that morning the family and their Guru entered the tent for a 1 hour ceremony. The Guru sat behind the scriptures that was carefully wrapped in many cloths and then carried  on the top of Japreets fathers head from their room to the tent. After the ceremony the couple and family enjoyed a lunch together and then met back up for some off site photos and a fantastic reception with dancing galore! Congratulations guys… here is their story….

In 2003, Eric and I both started working at UK Hospital pursuing a career in medicine. After our first shift together we realized… that we couldn’t STAND each other! We avoided working together if at all possible even trading shifts if we had to… until one Saturday night shift when no one would switch us. Well with nothing else to do, we spent the entire shift talking and realized suddenly that we had a lot in common and from that night on we became dear friends…
After many years of friendship, and supporting me through my mom’s fight against lymphoma and a stem cell transplant, I began to realize how much I appreciated him being there for me. That year I then supported him through his dad’s battle with lung/prostate cancer and when his father unfortunately lost that battle, the funeral. After going through a time like that you begin to realize who you truly care for… and we realized how much we meant to each other…
Distance definitely makes the heart grow fonder… In 2011, I moved to Va to get my PhD in Criminology, Law and Society. In May 2012, Eric had planned to come visit. I was having a rough semester, and thought he was just planning an impromptu trip out to cheer me up. Little did I know that three months before he had bought my dream ring, and had already spent an entire day with my parents asking for my hand in marriage, so this was not an ordinary or impromptu trip out to see me! Anyhoo… he planned a night out, but I had gotten a horrible eye infection and didn’t feel like going. He was so adamant I thought “why not, it will make me feel better?” Before I knew it we were driving out to wine country (he knows me so well) in Middlesburg, Va to the Red Fox Tavern. It was a beautiful, quaint Inn where we had the entire dining room to ourselves! The food and wine were amazing and I was definitely starting to feel better. While we were waiting for the dessert menu, Eric began to tell me how much he loved me and pulled a ring out of his pocket (he didn’t bring the box because I would have noticed it)… unfortunately though because there was no box I immediately saw the ring and tuned him out screeching “Gimmee, Gimmee, Gimmee” and put it on! Then realizing I ruined the whole thing we did a take two of course 🙂 Regardless it was the perfect place, because I wanted something private, the food was amazing and the gorgeous Inn he picked is where JFK and Jacqueline used to stay during fox hunting season… and well if it is good enough for the Kennedys…

Rebecca… Before we came to the island to plan the wedding I told my parents the ONE thing I absolutely wanted for the wedding was you as my photographer… You are not only an amazing photographer but an even more amazing person. I don’t think of you so much as our wedding photographer as I do the dear friend from the a Island. Your ability to not only capture those precious moments but also capture the feelings transpired in those moments is priceless! I thank my parents everyday for giving us the wedding of our dreams, but I also want to thank you for letting me relive that dream each and every time I look through our pictures. I can never thank you enough for the gift you gave Eric and I.
Cheers,
Jasz

Rebecca love, love, love your pictures and you. You are so friendly and accommodating. Loved how you just went with the flow, nothing phased you and you did an amazing job. We are all thrilled, hoping to come to the island again will make sure to see you. Thanks jasbir

I love this couple and the wedding looked amazing. I wish we could have been there, love your adopted mom and dad.

Rebecca,
The pictures you took and edited are amazing. Thank you SO much for taking part in our wonderful day and capturing the best possible moments of it. There are things you miss or just even notice in the hectic rushing to and fro that are beautiful moments that just pass by without the right photographer there to capture them. Once again thank you for doing this for us.
Sincerely,
Eric
