How did Bryan Propose

Bryan proposed at Morgan’s in Grand Cayman on the dock beside the water. The ring box had a picture of my dog, Ava , inside it when he asked.

How We Met

In 2023, the brides mom, Kristi was getting a facial from her esthetician and they talked about how Taylor was struggling to find a good guy. Kristi’s esthetician mentioned Bryan, told Kristi a little bit about him, and mentioned that Taylor should go on a date with him. Kristi later looked Bryan up on Facebook, told Kenny about him, and showed Kenny a picture. Kenny mentioned to Kristi, “I might know him. I know his dad—he has one son in construction and one that is a lawyer.” Kristi’s esthetician was persistent, and, for two or three more visits, kept asking if she told Taylor about Bryan yet. Not wanting to get too involved with Taylor’s dating life, Kristi did not pass his name along to Taylor.

About three months later (and many more bad dates for Taylor), on September 16th, Kristi and Kenny go to Cemeno’s for dinner. At this point Kristi had mentioned that her esthitician was recommending some guy who was a lawyer to Taylor about a week earlier. Coincidentally, that same night, Bryan and his friend, Anthony, are eating dinner a few tables away. On their way out, Bryan stopped at their table to say hi to Kenny. Kenny says, “Hey buddy, are you are the construction worker or the lawyer.” Kristi’s head popped up, remembering her conversation with Kenny months ago. Bryan responded, “ I’m the lawyer.” Kristi told Bryan about her conversation with her esthetician and how he should go on a date with Taylor. Not knowing Kenny had a daughter, Bryan was surprised. Bryan laughed, pointing at Kenny, and asked, “Is she anything like this guy?” Kristi assured Bryan that she was not. On Bryan’s way out of Cemeno’s, Anthony gave him some meaningful advice—“Don’t overthink it this time.”

While Kristi and Kenny are still at Cemeno’s, they get a call from Taylor complaining about another bad date she went on that night. Kristi mentioned that she should have come to Cemeno’s because they just met Bryan. Kristi told Taylor about him, and put the wheels in motion.

Bryan gets home, looks at his phone, and sees a Facebook friend request from Taylor Sandeno. Bryan was thrilled that Taylor saved him time trying to find her on Facebook, accepted her friend request, and immediately private messaged her, “Hey Taylor! Did your parents tell you how handsome and charming I was last night! :)😉” Unsure at the time if Bryan was funny or conceded, Taylor figured that he couldn’t be any worse than the rest of the guys she had recently met, and responded. The following Saturday, September 23rd, Bryan took Taylor on a first date to McWethy’s Tavern, and there were immediate fireworks!

After a few dates, Kristi told Taylor’s great aunt, Anita, about Taylor dating a new guy. Amongst other things, Kristi told Anita his name and that he is a lawyer in Joliet. Anita called her back eventually and said, “I go to breakfast every Sunday after Church with a woman who has a grandson who is a lawyer in Joliet. I think I might know his grandma, Darlene.” Kristi, thinking how unlikely of a coincidence it could be that Anita knows Bryan’s grandma who has the same name as her mom/Taylor’s Noni. After a quick internet search, Kristi confirmed that Anita was right! From that moment on, there were not many secrets about Bryan and Taylor.

First Look

We did a first look. It was extremely emotional and special to spend some time together before our ceremony. For Bryan, the more emotional one, it was nice to get out some of the emotions and nerves in private with Taylor instead of in front of so many people. Taylor also did a first look with her dad, and it was a very special moment for them both.

Decor

Celebrations. It was filled with tropical pink and bright colored flowers and elegant decorations and table settings.

The First Kiss

Our first kiss was filled with excitement of what is to come as a result of our marriage, and also a huge relief that the ceremony and nerves were over and the fun of the reception was about to kick off. Taylor expected to be nervous about standing in front of so many people at the ceremony, but she was overcome with happiness and excitement to marry Bryan that she wasn’t nervous at all.

Unique touches

We had steel drums for cocktail hour. Taylor had listened to steel drums with her family, including her Noni and Papa when she was very young in Grand Cayman.

Time together taking photos

It was most fun to have moments to ourselves to enjoy such a big day before we joined the rest of our family and friends in the celebration.

The First Dance

We were very anxious for our first dance because it was choreographed and we are not experienced dancers. Thankfully, it went so well and everyone was very surprised.

Dancing

We danced the night away, only stepping off the dance floor for a quick moment or two. Our last song was I don’t want to miss a thing by Aerosmith, and without any planning, all of the guests circled around us while only we danced together. It was a special moment.
